It’s been a brilliantly busy month for all of us in Year 3. After catching up about our Summer holidays, we dived right into our learning.

Here are some of our class highlights from September:
In maths we have been using the column method to add and subtract numbers. We used the numbers from Lego Cards to help us come up with our calculations. We also enjoyed practising our times tables by doing star jumps out in the playground.

In Literacy we have been reading the book ‘Gorilla’ by Anthony Browne, we have been thinking about the character of Hannah and her emotions. We wrote a letter to the Gorilla, from Hannah’s point of view, thanking him for a lovely night out at the zoo.
We then began to write these up on the laptops.

In Geography we have been learning about cities and continents, we enjoyed different activities such as exploring an atlas and completing a world map puzzle with our friends.

For Roald Dahl day at the beginning of September we created our own illustrations of Roald Dahl’s characters in the style of Quentin Blake, we then used water colours to complete our pictures. We think they look splendiferous.

We also learnt about solutions in Science, and found out how bubble mix is made. Our classroom assistant, Lawrence, put on a bubble show for us. It was great!

It has been a fantastic start to the year and a lot of fun too.
Well done everyone in Year 3.
