Years 2 and 3 had an incredible time during our stay at Cardfields last Thursday and Friday. We fell in love with the house and grounds immediately as we arrived on site and unpacked.
On Thursday we enjoyed a rotation of activities. The first activity was Pond Dipping. After using our nets, we had a really close look at all the different kinds of mini beasts living in the pond, we discovered damselfly larvae, bloodworms and even a newt!
We then moved on to the printing workshop where we made paterned cards and paper using potatoe printing. We came up with our own designs and created our own stamps to make repeating patterns.
Finally we had a go at BMXing. This was so much fun and we loved every second of riding around the bike track.
After a busy day we couldn’t wait for dinner and we were treated to a BBQ out on the patio of the house. The food was delicious! Some of us went back for seconds and thirds! We finished off the day by toasting marshmallows over a camp fire and singing campfire songs.
On Friday we went for a relaxing walk along the canal and stopped off by the lock to do some pencil drawings of the wild life and the canal boats. The weather was gorgeous and we enjoyed a little snack by the canal before heading back to Cardfields for lunch.
We had a final play in the grounds, running through the trees and having a go on the assault course, before packing our bags and jumping back on the coach to go back to school.
What an amazing experience!
We’d like to say a huge thank you to Elaine, Ron and all of the staff at Cardfields for making out time away so enjoyable. Hopefully, some of us will be seeing you again next year.
