It was a great start to the final half term for our older children who took to the 76 bus headed for Westminster to take a closer look at the Houses of Parliament.
After passing through security, they speedily went into the House of Lords and learnt a bit about who works there and what they do. They also took in the famous lobbies, House of Commons, the busts and statues of previous Prime Ministers and took in Westminster Hall too.
After all this, there was a workshop called the Peoples’ Parliament where our children were given various scenarios for debate and voting. This led to whomever held the meerkat could speak to promote democracy.
When leaving, the children saw a real protest outside before boarding the bus to return to school. Great stuff!
