April has kept Year 4 as busy as ever. The children have enjoyed their first few weeks of kayaking at the Laburnum Boat Club. It has already proved to be quite an experience on Regent’s Canal, learning the different ways to manoeuvre the kayak and how to stop when a canal boat approaches!

On April 19th we visited the East London Mosque and were given a tour of the beautiful building and an interesting talk on Islam. The girls and boys had a chance to find out about Friday prayers, see the washrooms and even visit the Mosque’s very own beehive.
Amongst these and many other things we’ve been constructing classification keys in Science, tackling some tricky ska music in Ukulele class, and looking at the life and works of artists during topic time – including Vincent Van Gogh and James Whistler. In Literacy we’ve started reading ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’ by Philip Pullman too.  Not bad considering much of April was taken up with the Easter holidays!
