Alison, Mari and the Eco Committee hit the streets this morning to spread the word (in the form of our Eco Code) to local businesses. We visited corner shops, cafes, a bar, a barber, a bicycle repair shop and even Tesco, to name but a few, and were delighted with the warm welcome we received everywhere. Everyone we met was more than happy to display our Eco Code poster and, we hope, to spread the word that Eco-matters matter! Our final stop was at the Waterhouse restaurant, part of the Shoreditch Trust, and the children were surprised with a treat of hot chocolate, gingerbread, mince pies and vegan brownies; a little thank you from the school for all their hard work towards achieving our Eco Schools Silver Award. Today was tinged with a little sadness as this was possibly the present committee’s last Eco-task: elections will be held in January for a new class representative. A huge well done to every member of the current committee – you really have made a difference, raised awareness and made the world a little bit greener.
