Last week we saw the successful return of Project RW. The children in Year 3 and 4 teamed up to create sensory stations for the Nursery and Reception children. They chose to come up with interesting ways to engage sight, smell, taste, touch and hearing. Some of them even explored mind reading and the sixth sense!
It was lovely to see everyone working so well together and the way the Year 3 and 4 children interacted with the younger students was admirable. Nursery and Reception class children had a terrific time exploring their senses; from testing their taste buds by trying different foods to taking on the touch challenge, squelching their fingers in rice pudding and jelly. There was even a sensory tunnel filled with light and dangling stinky cheeses!!
Year 3 and 4 also learnt about the science of our senses. They learnt about how our eyes, ears and tongue send messages to the brain and which parts of our brain are used for different tasks.
It was a fantastic week and we’re very proud of all the children for all their hard work.
