Down in the woods this week, we had the tarpaulin, mallets and tent pegs with us to have a go at shelter-building. Lots of the children were keen to help to peg the tarp down and take them back out again. We wondered would everyone in the class fit under if it started to rain heavily and we really needed to take shelter under it…

One lonesome ladybird was spotted by Levi and I, we couldn’t believe it! What on earth was it doing crawling around in the cold and it’s almost winter! Other things explored were the tree-house and a mysterious maze that seems to have sprung up on the site last week….

The children love getting out into nature every Wednesday afternoon. It does everyone the world of good, is grounding, and a wealth of things such as learning to respect nature, self-confidence, risk-taking and working together, to name but a few, are nurtured.
