Yesterday’s session at Forest School opened with a class game of leaf snap, where we looked out for ‘snaps’ by colour, shape and size. Following this some children chose to go on a wild berry hunt with me. We roamed the site, keeping eyes peeled for berries, and found holly, rose hips and another kind we couldn’t see on our chart…
Great pleasure was had mushing and squishing up the berries, bashing them with mallets and grinding them up with a mortar & pestle. This lead to a lovely chat about poisonous berries versus edible ones – everybody was keen to share their favourites!
