We marked the 101st anniversary of Armistice Day by holding a special assembly for Years 1 to 6 children to help explain the end of World War I and why we commemorate the 11th November at 11am every year.

Children had made a silhouette of a solider and some beautiful poppies, and, at the end of the assembly, children laid 101 poppies around him. The children were suitably respectful and reflected on how the world is a much better place thanks to the bravery of so many.

Here’s a short video showing the children laying their poppies in honour of all those who lost their lives and fought for a better future.
