Our Eco Committee, with Alison, have been working incredibly hard in school to achieve the Bronze Eco-School Award.
I am delighted to announce they have done it!
The Eco Committee – representatives from Reception Class to Year 6 have had meetings since September, carried out a Eco survey, met with Chris (our chef) and Adam (our school keeper) and put together an action plan which includes promoting eating more healthily at lunch time, growing our own herbs, discouraging single use water bottles and we’re looking to start a project to help clear up the canal on our doorstep. We have stickers near every light switch in the school that enables children to switch off lights that needn’t be on and which need to remain on.
Every week in the newsletter, the Parents’ Network share an Eco Fact of the Week to help inform everyone of how they can live greener and do our best to help the environment.
The Eco – Award is an international award programme that guides schools on their sustainable journey, by addressing environmental issues in school and reducing waste.
Well done to everyone for working together to achieve this award! This confirms the green credentials of Rosemary Works School and all the little things we do to protect our planet and the local environment.
