All children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 enjoyed an active afternoon at Springfield Park on Wednesday where they took part in an exciting festival, alongside 200 other children, in celebration of World Orienteering Day. The beautiful parkland provided a lovely setting and some pretty tough, hilly terrain too.
The event, organised in association with Dartford Orienteering Klubb, was a huge success and saw children competing in pairs or threes to complete the extensive course over the shortest time using map-reading skills. They recorded each gate-find using electronic ‘dabbers’ and will receive a breakdown of the results and exactly how they got on in a few weeks when all the information has been processed. Very exciting. And a lot of fun!
