This afternoon, every class learned something about Christianity as part of our school Religious Studies. In year 3 and 4 we decided to learn about Christingle.
This is a winter celebration for Christians where they create Christingles by placing a candle into an orange wrapped in a red ribbon. Sweets or dried fruit are then added on the end of cocktail sticks. Each of these parts of the Christingle represent a different thing:
The orange represents the world
The ribbon represents the blood of Jesus
The candle represents hope
The four toothpicks represent each of the four seasons
We enjoyed making our Christingles and learning about this Christian celebration.
