We’ve been learning about fractions this week in Year 4 and as a yummy treat to finish the week, we had a cooking class to make fraction pizzas. Whilst we added our ingredients to our pitta pizza bases, we thought about the fraction of coverage we had for each ingredient. Nine tenths of our pizza base was covered in pizza sauce, eight tenths were covered in cheese and maybe two tenths of our pizzas were covered in pineapple or even capers. We wrote our estimated fractions around our pizza as we made them and then popped them in the oven to bake. We even thought about equivalent fractions. If we had five tenths of our pizza base covered with spinach, then we could say that half of the pizza had spinach on it.

We had lots of fun making our pizzas and thinking about fractions, but we had even more fun eating them! Enjoy our little video…
