We braved the elements today and headed out on our class trip to the HMS Belfast. It was a beautiful (if chilly) morning and we were so lucky to have the ship to ourselves for most of the day. We learnt about Morse code, completed a treasure hunt activity and split into small groups which really gave us a chance to explore this amazing historical site. The trip was a great opportunity to see a real WW2 vessel up close after last week’s in class learning on the D Day landings of 1944.

We also got to do some sketching when we were back on shore and the class produced some wonderful pictures of the ship. I can honestly say it was one of the best trips I have been on – a varied, educational and very fun day and most importantly, the children seemed to get a lot of value from it.
