What an excellent day we had at the beautiful Tate Britain.  We kicked off with a thorough investigation of some large and curvaceous sculptures by Henry Moore, which the children sketched thoughtfully and skilfully.  So much so that a visitor to the gallery expressed how impressed he was with  the children’s work and focus.  I’m really proud of you Year 5 & 6!  We were all confused and astonished by the some of the modern art work on the next part of our tour.  Ask your child what the the most unusual thing they saw was!
After lunch we explored some more of the gallery and the children were challenged to really look at individual pieces by asking questions about the starting points, media used, hidden stories and symbols etc.  I heard such a range of creative, intelligent and lovely ideas – well done Year 5 and 6 – you blew me away with your impeccable behaviour, sense of fun and well thought out observations!
