This year, International Women’s Day fell on a Sunday, so we decided to celebrate last Friday after a super World Book Day the day before.
This year, we focused on women artists and classes learnt all about their chosen artists and their work.
We had talked in Celebration Assembly about focusing on the struggle many women have faced to have their work recognised, and it was pleasing to see so many classes teaching their children about the importance of equality and how things used to be for women and how they are steadily improving. Still some way to go…
Children studied a wide range of artists, including Georgia O’Keeffe, Barbara Hepworth and Frida Kahlo. Below is a slideshow with all the wonderful artwork the children produced.
