This term our main focus is on rhyming and developing the children’s understanding with this. This week we introduced a fun game which encouraged the children to find and match the rhyming pairs and the children found this very exciting and demonstrated excellent patience when waiting for their turn.

They all understood what it meant to ‘rhyme’ and their biggest frustration was not picking up a winning card! It was great to see the children really beginning to show good understanding of how to rhyme and this will help them as they develop and move on to their phonics sessions. On the odd occasion that someone may have not felt confident on whether a word rhymed or not, the other children stepped in and helped them – great team work!
