As part of our Forces topic in Science, Year 5 were tasked with a challenge: to design, build and test a parachute that would effectively stop an egg breaking if dropped from a height. We did this in order to test our knowledge and understanding of air resistance. The designs were incredibly varied and everyone had a real opportunity to get involved and share their ideas – what the children were able to come up with was amazing. We then took them out to the playground and tested the design by dropping them from the tree-house to see if the eggs would survive. And I’m pleased to say that very few eggs were broken in the process!
