As part of our Inventors topic, Year Three went on a visit to London Tradition which is a coat factory. They were shown the original coat designs and then how each individual part is created. Year Three particularly liked the variety of fabrics and all the machines that made the parts. Their favourite machine was the button machine because of how quickly it worked! Everyone in the factory was very friendly and we enjoyed asking them questions. They discovered that 80-90 coats are made in one day and that each coat is checked over very carefully once complete. Year Three were also shown coats for children and babies and took away a London Tradition coat label. They found it interesting to learn just how many people are involved in making one coat and felt inspired to sketch their own when they returned to school.
