Today as part of our ‘Extreme Earth’ topic Years 5 & 6 took part in the ‘Beat the Flood’ challenge. We used our scientific, design and maths skills to design, cost and build a model of a flood proof home for the people in flood hit countries such as Bangladesh. The children worked in small groups and then at the end of the day we tested the models out against the elements and evaluated their success. We had loads of fun and also surprised ourselves with how effective the designs proved to be.
