How exciting to leave the classroom for some alternative education about graffiti!  Our guide Kia, a street artist himself, led us to all manner of sites to explore this colourful and controversial art form.  We learnt the names of some of the most prolific artists and how to identify their individual styles.  Then it was on to the workshop where Kia expertly instructed us in how to skilfully handle a spray can.  First everyone created a card stencil, cutting out their designs with a Stanley knife (Gulp!).  All digits intact, we were then invited to get busy with the spray cans.  Year 6, Alison and Vicky had a ball and everyone left with a commemorative graffiti canvas of their own design.
